Pediatric Clinical Counselling +

School Based Psychology

Pediatric Clinical Counselling aims to support the emotional, psychological and developmental well-being of children and adolescents struggling with behavioural issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, social difficulties, or coping with chronic illness or disabilities.

At Groms Physio + Co, we want to create a space where kids feel safe to grow and develop within the community. Counselling can help with:

  • Promoting emotional expression and resilience

  • Enhancing social skills and coping mechanisms

  • Addressing developmental concerns

  • Supporting children through trauma and loss

  • Improving family dynamics and communication

School-based Psychology helps students by providing mental-health support, promoting emotional well-being and enhancing overall academic/social development within the school environment. School Psychologists work with students, teachers and parents to identify and address various psychological, emotional, and behavioural challenges that can affect a student's ability to succeed academically and socially. These supports include:

  • Emotional and behavioural support for anxiety, depression, bullying, stress, anger and social difficulties

  • Conduct psychological assessments to identify learning disabilities, cognitive delays, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders or emotional disorders that may impact a child's academic performance.

  • Recommendations for targeted interventions and accommodations (Individualized Education Plans) to help students succeed.

  • Collaborate with Special Education Teams to support students with learning disabilities, developmental delays, or behavioural challenges to develop strategies to help students thrive in the classroom and with their peers.

  • Consult with teachers, parents and school administrators with how to address learning challenges, behavioural issues, and emotional concerns to foster a more supportive and understanding school environment

  • Implement prevention programs (ex anti-bullying campaigns or mental health awareness workshops) to support a more positive school climate.

  • Support students to set and achieve academic goals by identifying barriers to learning such as test anxiety, poor time management, or lack of motivation improving student's academic engagement and self-confidence
